Mia Kerton-Sanker:
Miss Mia has been dancing at Langley Dance Academy since age 3 in the beloved Sweet Peas ballet program. While she started off shy, refusing to leg go of mom’s leg during that first class, her passion for dance quickly flourished. She has trained extensively in Ballet (Royal Academy of Dance ballet exams up to Advanced Foundation, CPYB & en pointe), Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Acro & Hip Hop. Over the last 15 seasons, Mia has proudly represented LDA at competitions as an original member of the first Ruby Company through to a graduating member of the Diamond Company.
Mia has pushed her dance career in all directions, pursuing opportunities though assistant teaching, creating choreography and performances & training abroad. She has found a love of teaching through her experience in assisting introductory classes and working with the Adaptive Program alongside Miss Alivia. Her early choreography opportunities include adorable ballet recital pieces, hip hop solos, and group jazz and hip hop routines for the Salish Dance Team, earning them 1st place at Level Up in 2025. Mia has travelled to Long Beach to learn from famous dancers such as Twitch, Travis Wall and other SYTYCD favourites, NYC to train at Broadway Dance Centre, Alvin Ailey, and the American Ballet Academy, California to dance down Main Street in Disney, and Portland to train more deeply in Hip Hop and other street styles.
Mia brings her love for teaching and dance to every studio she enters. While she originally dreamed of personal performances on stage, she has found her greatest joy is watching her students smile brightly on stage while she cheers them on from the wings. Her goal is to have dancers of all walks of life fall in love with dance.
