Registration – Competitive

Competitive Dance

ABOUT:
Our Company Program is a committed dance program open to dancers between the ages of 5 and 18 who exhibit a higher level of skill and who are serious about performing. Our Company Program requires a minimum of 6 hours of training a week, including Ballet, Jazz, and Technical Training.

In addition to the Company Program, LDA provides various competitive dance classes to dancers who love to perform and compete in a positive and fun environment. These classes are geared towards children who love the competition life, but may be uncertain about a full time commitment to our Company Program. These classes also require an audition in the discipline they will be competing in.

ELIGIBILITY:
Our Company Program is for those students who not only have a strong natural ability, but also have a passion for dance. The commitment goes well beyond that which is required for our Recreational Program.

Generally, a student will be recommended by their teacher from our Recreational Program. That student’s parents will then be notified of this recommendation and if it is something they are interested in pursuing, an audition is set up to see which program they would best fit into.

If a student is coming from out of town or from another dance studio who has previously been involved in a competitive program, an audition will be set up to determine the best placement. Please contact us to set up an audition at lana@langleydanceacademy.com.

REQUIREMENTS:

A background in dance is required with several years experience in both Ballet and Jazz; additional styles are considered an asset. LDA has many different levels of programs and students will be fit into a group at the discretion of our faculty only. Our basic requirement for a student entering a Competitive Program is that they take Ballet, Jazz Technique and Jazz Choreography. Other genres of dance get added as the level/age increases. See below for a full outline.
